What is the significance of the doweled rail end and hole in the post?
The doweled rail end and hole in the post is the main selling point for this type of fence. Temperature changes and moisture cause wood to contract and expand. When you rely on some sort of fastener to connect any kind of post and rail together, it will become a maintenance problem. Our Country Log Fencing permits the rails to move, an attribute that will allow your fence to last a long time.

Do you use either peeler cores or doweled wood?
Neither. We just remove the bark utilizing a machine peel process. The purpose is to leave as much sapwood as possible. This process helps insure good chemical penetration and prevents rails from warping and splitting wide open.

Is this fence difficult to install?
No. Typical installation will require at least two people. You install it one section at a time. You will need to drill holes in the ground approximately 2 1/2 to 3 feet.

What size holes are in the post?
The Premium Heavy Duty Fence utilizes a 1 7/8” doweled rail end that fits into a 2” hole in the post. The Elite Jumbo Size has a 2 7/8” doweled end into a 3” hole.

Does the doweled end rail weaken the fence or the rail?
The 1 7/8” and 2 7/8”doweled ends are extremely strong. They’re so strong, our experience shows that the rail will break in the middle before it breaks on the end.

What happens if a rail breaks?
There are several ways to replace a rail. To use an original length, you will have to lift up one or a couple posts. This will lengthen the space between them to slip a new one in. Another way would be to shorten the length of one rail a little and slip it in one side first, then the other. To hold it from coming out of the hole, you just add a deck screw.

How heavy are the units of posts?
Full units of posts and rail weigh between 3,000 and 4,500 lbs depending on size.

How long does it take to get my order?
Order times will vary, depending on the size and type of fence, and current orders. Your dealer can inquire about how long the mill is back ordered. The actual processing, kiln, and treating time takes approximately 4-5 weeks.
